2008 NECŪ Article 406.11 requires tamper-resistant receptacles in Dwelling Units.* In all areas specified in 210.52 all 125-volt, 15- and 20-ampere receptacles shall be listed tamper-resistant receptacles.
2008 NECŪ effective January 1, 2008.
*A Dwelling Unit is a single unit, providing complete and independent living facilities for one or more persons, including permanent provisions for living, sleeping, cooking, and sanitation.

Other Applicable Codes and Standards
- 2008 NEC (registered mark) section 517.18(C) Pediatric Locations. Receptacles located within the rooms, bathrooms, playrooms, activity rooms, and patient care areas of pediatric wards shall be listed under tamper resistant or employ a listed tamper resistant cover.
- 2008 NEC Section 406.8 outdoor receptacles. All 15- and 20-ampere, 125- and 250-volt receptacles in damp or
wet locations must be Weather-Resistant.
